Then I split the back center to add a fun lace-up detail. Since I wear sleeves every day of the year, Boho Fabrics Yellow Citrine Soft Rayon Blend Lightweight Sweater Knit is the perfect light-weight knit to stay covered, but cool during summer.

Next I turned to the Heat Wave Hot Pants for a starting point to some 90's style flares with a twist. Since this pattern is only a shorts pattern, I dropped it down to knee length and added a bell to the bottom-but not just one bell...two bells! This gives me the opportunity to show some funky color when I'm feeling it. For these I used Boho Fabrics Ath-leisure, 4 Way-stretch Cotton Denim In Indigo Blue.

In Wisconsin, we will find just about any reason to get together to celebrate. I will have every opportuninty to show these off at our local festivals. With the versitility of the long sleeves and pants, these will be the first pieces I reach for all year long~

Stop by George + Ginger each day this week to all 24 blogger's Festival Fever style and make sure to check out the G+G Facebook page each day for a daily blog tour giveaway!

Oh Sew Kat: Clothes for Dolls

Welcome to my newest sewing ability: sewing for dolls! Once you have selected your fabric, use the corresponding pattern file for each of the TWT sock patterns (both files are included with each pattern). Elastic is highly recommended for this mash, unless your fabric has a very high spandex content.

From The Ladies Knock Out Socks, print the pages containing the Leg, Foot, and Band (optional) pattern pieces.

From the No Show Socks, print the pages containing the No Show Ballet Liner, Band, and Toe Piece pattern pieces.

Assemble the patterns and cut out.

Now, lets do the mash!

Mark the vertical center of the Knock Out Sock. Attach the No Show Ballet Liner by matching up the toe/bottom curve of both patterns and centering the heal of the No Show Ballet Liner between the edge of the pattern and the vertical line that was drawn. Mark the location of the arch with a horizontal line across the entire Knock Out Sock pattern. To create the keyhole, draw an arch about 3-4 inches high. Grade from the widest part of the heel of the No Show Ballet Liner to the edge/center line of the Knock Out Sock. Mark the same grade lines on the other side. Trim away the the pattern around the arch of the Ballet Liner and around the arch. Do not cut up the horizontal line that we drew.

We are now ready to use the new pattern!

Cut 2 mirror images of each pattern piece from your fabric.

Attach the Toe Piece to the toe of the sock, sew up the side seams, and attach the top band/elastic.

Now the keyhole band: This is a little different than the traditional band attachment, as most stretch is needed at the front of the ankle because it is fighting against the heel for space/stretch.

Once the short sides of the No Show Liner's band has been sewn, place clips or pin it into thirds. Clip or pin the keyhole of the sock into
fourths.
Match the top clips of each piece. Match the remaining clips of the band to the left and right clips of the keyhole. It is important for the top of the keyhole to have the most freedom to stretch, again because it is fighting against the heel for stretch. Attach the bands.

Weave and trim your tails, ET VOILA!
